Hair and Skin care tips for winter
As we transition into the cooler months, our skin and hair require a bit of extra TLC. To help you keep your beauty routine on point, here are some essential tips for the colder, drier weather:
1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Cold air can dehydrate your skin and hair. Make sure to drink plenty of water and use Farmed Beauty's Body butter to keep your skin supple and glowing. For your hair, consider a hydrating leave-in conditioner and our Moringa Hair Butter to lock in moisture.
2. Gentle Cleansing: Switch to a mild, nourishing cleanser to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils. For hair, use a sulfate-free shampoo to maintain moisture balance.
3. Exfoliate Regularly: Slough off dead skin cells with a gentle exfoliant to keep your skin smooth. Don’t forget your lips—use a soft scrub or balm to keep them from chapping.
4. Protect and Preserve: Cold winds can be harsh on your skin. Layer up with scarves and gloves, and use a hydrating body lotion to keep your skin protected and soft.
About Our Body Butter
What is Body Butter?
Body butter is a rich, creamy moisturiser/emollient crafted from organic, natural butters and oils. Unlike lighter lotions, its thick consistency melts into your skin, providing deep and long-lasting cover. Body butter is your skin's best friend, especially when it craves extra care and attention.
How to Use Body Butter: A Step-by-Step Guide
- Prep your skin: Start with clean skin before applying our body butter. Take a warm shower or bath to open up your pores and gently exfoliate with our body polishes to remove any dead cells. This will help the body butter absorb more effectively and leave your skin feeling smoother.
- Scoop a generous amount: Scoop out the body butter using clean hands or a spatula, a little really does go a long way. Rub the product between your palms to warm it up. This step helps soften the butter, making it easier to apply and spread evenly.
- Warm it up: Rub the body butter between your palms. This helps to soften it, making it easier to spread and ensuring even application.
- Apply to skin: Massage the body butter into your skin using circular motions. Pay extra attention to dry areas like elbows, knees, and heels. The rich formula will melt into your skin, providing immediate softness and hydration.
- Let it absorb: Give the body butter a few minutes to absorb fully before dressing. This ensures that your skin reaps all the moisturising benefits without transferring to your clothes.
- Use regularly: For best results, incorporate body butter into your daily skincare routine. Apply it after every shower or bath to maintain silky smooth, hydrated skin.

Ayurvedic hair care
Nature has been the gift that keeps giving and what better way to love ourselves than to cherish the gift that is nature.
I have often pondered how powerful herbs are, and how we can use them safely in body care products. I have an Afro hair and if you know anything about it, it can be a bit difficult to manage. Since discovering the power of potent herbs in hair care especially growth of healthy hair and retaining length, I have not looked back. This I believe will also work wonders for any hair type.
Let's explore a bit on the different herbs we use in our hair care products and what they can do for you.
Rosemary: Known for its stimulating properties, rosemary improves circulation, promoting hair growth and reducing dandruff. It's also a natural memory booster.
Cloves: Packed with antioxidants, cloves are excellent for oral health and can help combat inflammation. Their spicy aroma also makes them a popular choice in aromatherapy.
Moringa: This "miracle tree" is a nutrient powerhouse, rich in vitamins A, C, and E. Moringa strengthens hair, reduces inflammation, and boosts skin radiance.
Black Sesame Seed: These tiny seeds are loaded with nutrients that enhance hair and skin health. They can help prevent premature graying and provide deep nourishment.
Fenugreek: A staple in traditional medicine, fenugreek seeds are fantastic for hair growth and scalp health. They also aid in digestion and help regulate blood sugar.
Hibiscus Leaves: Hibiscus is a natural hair conditioner that adds shine and volume. It’s also great for skin, helping to even out tone and reduce hyperpigmentation.
Neem Leaves: Neem is a powerful antimicrobial that purifies the skin, fights acne, and soothes the scalp. It's a must-have for clear, healthy skin and hair.
Ready to give your hair the love it deserves? These natural ingredients have been used for centuries to promote strong, healthy, and beautiful hair. Whether you're battling dryness, seeking to boost growth, or simply want to add some shine, these powerhouse herbs and oils have got you covered.
My hair care routine
I love sharing hair care tips because we need to look after each other, if I don't take care of you, who will?!
Everybody has a hair care routine that works for them, I am sure you do too.
I use the LCO method which is short for Liquid, Cream and Oil.
There is the LOC method (Liquid, Oil, Cream).
Liquid: water, hair tea, liquid leave in sprays, etc.
Cream: Leave in conditioner, Hair cream.
Oil: Hair oil, Ayurvedic hair oil.
Why do i preach the LCO method?
I think it is logical that our scalp and hair need moisture, and the way to provide moisture is with water and water based products (conditioner, hair cream). Now if you have sprayed water on a surface, it will definitely evaporate, so if you need to keep the moisture in, you need a sealant which prevent the evaporation and locks in the moisture. This is where your oil comes in.
As opposed to the LOC method, the cream over the oil, will just end up being wiped out and the water in the cream drying out.
If you try these steps, you will hardly experience dryness and lacklustreness of hair.
